It is definitely another outstanding work of Coelho. He vividly captured man�s basic necessity of life, by combining reality and esoteric experience. Reading this book like we are riding our heart�s roller coaster in soul searching on our existence of being human in the midst ambiguity of everyday life.

The story is about a young, beautiful and intelligent middle class girl, who seems too satiated in her everyday life. She has her life in front of her, being too predictable and too flat. Having past of her life always �play� safe and try to make everybody�s happy (in particular her parents). Than one lonely evening she decided to end her life by taking pills.

Failing her suicidal attempted, that she hospitalized in a mental hospital in Lubljana (Slovenia Capital). This is when the whole story is constructed which each fragments have fill out her curiosity of her most existence. She fell in love with a schizophrenic boy. She got closed acquaintance with a depressed self compulsive lawyer. She be friend with cognitive emotional disturbed mother. Not withstanding that she lived and surrounded by numbers of mental disorder people. But what is the most essential that she is an experience of Life itself. How the endless craving of dead can become a cure to appreciate and embrace life as it is.

For me reading this kind of book has evoked my consciousness of life. Because sometimes I can be lonely in my busyness and sure I can be lonely in the crowd, but in the oblivion of my loneliness, I still have zillion things need to be thanked for. For me Life is just a collection of moments, some are ours and some are what we might have been. Just like it self, the road are meant to be for the journey not for destination �

This is my last week in Jakarta, it was a disturbing holiday for the last few days, start by continuing rain, weary flooding, hectic traffic jammed, than followed by endless disturbing call from work. And the final knock down is, I can not come back to my apartment as the road in front of it was flooded 4 meter high � L

But, despite that all I do still have sweet holiday sensation, I meet and greet all my dearly friends, I chit and chat with my warm nieces and nephews, I shed tears and laughter with my best buddies, I did a lot of shopping [although the camera department still un-touch yet], watch cinema, having a relaxing coffee break, went to local favorite restaurants.. and many many more to come �.

But most of all I make new friend, again reborn with the experience of early love, being flattered by witty words, being pampered by romantic ambience and of course over joy of bewildering feeling of knowing that someone is actually there, caring, thinking, and to be missed �. Although eventually it leads to the other end, � how long this will last � ?

It is harder in experience to becoming than to be it self. In the essence, in life we never be in a static motion, we are always in a constant process of becoming to something, whether we realize it or not. I am now trapped in this process, it was started just before year end when I received more responsibility on work. It is more intensifying every day and more to come. Although I have seen this coming but I never expected it would be this difficult.

Firs I must deal with my bosses� expectations, I need to manage their voluptuous endless demands. Before it was only one person now it is more. Second, it seems that everyone wants a crumb out of me, I need to listen to everyone�s problems, somehow they think it should also be my problems. Third, the work load is increase which makes me murderously busy. This has mark the end of my pampering time, good bye all of those traveling and leisure. Last, of which I found is the most difficult part, here in Myanmar I don�t have circle of friend who support and understand me as the way I am. I do have few best friends, but it felt different when we are in a group of friends where we can tell everything and be as truly as what we are. Having this circle is more like having many strains of family, who are always there to love and to be loved sincerely �

Ironically this lonesome feeling is blundering when I had my year end holiday few weeks back. True I was surrounded by my lovely friends, true I had wonderful moments, true it is the most happening event for 2006 in Myanmar. But somehow, I can not be my self, I need to put a lot of restrained against my will to be true to my self. I was mortified by my own expression, I was retarded from my own thought.

Again, I do believe that things are happening for some reason, eventually, I would comprehend being lonely and put away all the negative thoughts. Because more and more time I spend not to waive this feeling, it will lead me to the oblivion of my life. Now, I need to rejuvenate, I need to release, and I need to secure and today is my first day of my holiday in Jakarta. Even I have not met anyone, but the energy is here [well, there are abundance of calls & text messages which greet my arrival J] �. At last I feel home, I feel save and I feel love �

What a hectic week, start by a bloodily heartache of broken hearted, than continue with tiring travel with big boss from Singapore [literary big] and ended by endless un-resolved meetings with many people. Haahhhh [long breath taking �] life could be better I guess

But last night, I successfully arranged a romantic farewell dinner for my boss, it was an open air dinner at my place. Everything so perfectly beautiful, the sky, the moon, the stars, the candle light even the air breeze seems so flirty to all of us. Here within November to January is winter and the weather just perfect for open air activities.

The only thing that stroked me that at the final remarks, all local people are sit with preached mode, on the ground and praised a respect for thanking and forgiveness to my boss. It was the most touching moments, which gives me goose bumps.

Culture shock!! .. many people say you will definitely over after we have �become� the society itself � well apparently it won�t happened to me, it is my 10^th month now in Myanmar but still I amazed with local people.

Last night, I plan to go for simple photo hunting, instead I got another witty experience with my driver. It started when I need to find this place, recommended by my friend as a spell bounding sun set, cleverly my friend did not leave a detail description, he only give me the address without the name of that place. Of course if it�s in other place on earth when almost every person have a mobile it would not be a problem, but here, I need to struggle just to find this place.

U Lee [that is how I call my driver, in English it means uncle], can we go to this place? [I hand out a peace of paper containing the restaurant address to him],

I was bewildered with my thinking, what my driver would think that I am going to a bordil house !! .. and with all of my camera gadget I brought, what would he think? .. am I that kinky just to get a naughty photos with Myanmar girls � I can not imagine what exactly my feeling, fear, shame, embarrassed, confused � any many other feeling

I know that some people here, mostly the old generation have difficulties in pronouncing some English consonants, as these consonants consider do not exist in Myanmar�s language, and now I know that �S� is one of them �. What a relief �

Congratulation on Your Wedding

Come to my attention than one of my dearest friend was having a sacral matrimony on 11 November 2006, sad that I could not make it. But I manage to catch the ambience when I called some of my friends who were there. Well like usual, it was crowded, hectic, overwhelming with tears and laugh.

Today, I received an email from him describing their heavenly honeymoon in Bali, of which I realized that I have not spoken a word on their behalf on this important occasion. Part of is purely because I was murderously busy with work, [I know some of you guys were laughing, seeing my golden rock traveling picture, and thinking that I was lying]. But some part, I need to be honest, because I was too ignorance, not to my friend, but to the occasion itself. As far as I recall, being in my age now, most of my friends were married long way before. There were a period [I guess between 25 � 30 years old] when I was just so tired to attend too many wedding ceremonies, now as the period were done, I guess I was not expecting anyone of my friend to get married wouldn't I J

Anyhow now, I sincerely wish the happy couple good luck, with hope that they would get the best out of their life in the future � I can only say, I am happy for you guys

Arriving there I was a bit upset because it is in renovation, but in the morning I got one in a million shot, because apparently only "the blesed" ones can repair the pagoda. Means that only a few groups of monk can touch and repair the pagoda, and it was a unique few.

Whatever the Food

It needs more than a heart to appreciate and adorn life, it needs a cleansed soul and a purified mind. Today is my second Shaum [fasting day] I had long-long way from home. God has a unique way to show me that I am a lucky man who needs to be more graceful on life.

Rolling the time when I was in Jakarta, having the Ramadhan always something worth to wait. Each Ramadahan in a way has elevated me to appreciate life more and more. I could realize what a blissfully delicious taste of a simple tea when we broke the fasting, and I couldn�t imagine abundance of grace when we had the first bites of our food. Not to mention the loving sphere I got from my family, on the first day of Ramadhan when we break the fast together. But, until now I realize that occurrence was nothing compare to what I have found.

Now, I am having my Shaum in a La-La land. I know I couldn�t expect much of the festivities ambience here, as 80% of people are Buddhist. Although I try my best to mimicking the experience still I fall. Most of the time here I break the fast with a cup of coffee and a cigarette, than after praying I continue to have my dinner as usual, which prepared by my maid, it was so not what I called food for freedom. And the worst I have done it alone L. Everything seems wrong and doesn�t feel right. I miss the Adzan, I miss the thrill of waiting the Adzan. I miss the happy & relieve faces of people after breaking their fast. I miss the hustle & bustle of going to the mosque for Terawih. I miss the night bazaar at Al Azhar where you can find almost anything. I miss hang out with my dear friends after the prayer.

Than it come to my senses, as I miss every single thing too damned much that it must lead to some meaning. I have not been too embellished on my life before, I have done too little to favor my uncounted blessing.

Up until today on my 9^th day of fasting, I don�t know what spirit has possessed me, all I feel was I urgently want to eat a typical Indonesian fried banana, as I just come back from my field visit I could not have much time to shop for materials, than magically [which I though my house maid has bought it before I arrive] in my kitchen lies a pack of banana [pisang gepok] and a box of ready made pancake flour. Just using a common sense, I mix 3 cups of pancake flour, with water and 2 eggs, than I mix with the banana slices before fried them. Voila !!! my fried banana was ready !!! � although the banana fried skin is soft and not crispy, but it was great � just as I want to start, than I found out in the fridge, a box of Teh Botol Sosro !!! � [one of my friend who come back from Jakarta last week brought me this, but I never realize it] � Halelulya, God have mercy !!! � I was having a heavenly food to close my fasting that day, it was like from Zero to a million, from nothing to the contentment. I am nearly shed a tears when I ate the home made fried banana and accompanied by my forever favorite drink of Teh Botol Sosro � !! .. in a glimpse I did feel like home, and of course, I really think that God is truly a Joker, He knows exactly when and how to heal a broken soul of mine �. J

Well it is not the Indonesian Tattler or any high profile newspaper, YET, :-D .. it is only the Myanmar Times the only "sober" weekly newsprint in English in Myanmar. Yes, I found it is the only prudent newsprint because the others are government owned [even for the Myanmar Times they still faced difficulties in publishing certain articles without being censored] ...

I didn't noticed in the beginning, as the picture was taken way back two weeks ago, which I thought that time the photogrpher was only for documentation. But when I start receiving sms, emails and phone calls, saying that my picture is in the paper, than I know ...

On of many advantage having much traveling is that I can re-route my trip, well it sounds tricky but truly it doesn't cost anything from my company, only more effort on my side to do the scheduling and of course more energy. Therefore, two weeks ago, I can manage to reroute my way back home from field visit, which originally I travel via Bagan now I travel back via Mandalay, and selfishly spend one night in Mandalay.

I must say, the enchanting sunset in Mandalay has put me in a spell, mix with the best companionship of my Mandalay's friends make my short trip really a bliss. This time, again I try to capture the magical sunset in Mandalay palace and still manage to see the Botanical Garden and Sagaing Temple. The both places are outrageously gorgeous.

Pyin Oo Lwin botanical garden was build by British, it is only 1/4 of what we had in Bogor, but it is beautiful and spotless. It has the same character with Kebun Raya Bogor, even when I saw the pond I was vividly felt de ja vu with Bogor. The different is in Pyin Oo Lwin they don't have Lotus [water Lilly], which is strange I think, considering Lotus in the most sacred flower for Buddhist. Nevertheless, the rest of the view was spell bounding, and as it is sited on the highlander, the air was breezy cool, very romantic. In a strange way it really is clinging up homesick though.

Than the Sagaing Temple, is another serenity divine place. It is build on the top of the hill, where they have 33 Buddha Image facing the city of Mandalay. I heard so many complaints from people that if you travel across Myanmar all you can find is only Pagoda and Buddha image, which for some people are so boring. I was a bit skeptic before, but not now. I found, each Pagoda and each Buddha image has its own soul, has its own story and truly they have their own mystical energy which can elevate you to certain being. Honestly, I can feel the peace and serene whenever I saw the Buddha image, and whenever I entered the Pagoda. Part of me was like being infatuated to this kind of serenity.

Than, I call off the day by just relaxing in the Sedona Cafe', sipping of my coffee latte and crumbing ginger cookies with my best friends. Breathing in the stunning ambience of the sunset, which I was successfully capture some of them. All my headache from work and my heartache of loneliness seems to vanish, reform a truest pure feeling of overjoyed, thanking to the God almighty that He loves me still �.
